Creating and Repairing Plaster Crown Molding

Through demonstration and first-hand experience the participants will be introduced to the technical aspects of ornamental plasterwork including cornices and medallions and the techniques for producing appropriate knives and molds. They will also be taught casting and repair procedures for new and damaged ornamental work.

Instructors

Henry Mangione and David Krein

They run Frank J. Mangione Inc. Ornamental Plastering. Henry and David learned the trade from Henry’s father Frank, who learned from his father John Mangione. They have been partners in the trade over 30 years, restoring homes and historic sites from Staten Island to Saratoga and have done period rooms at the Museum of Fine Art in Boston and The Met, The Brooklyn Museum and The Frick Collection in New York, among many other projects.
